September 22, Winnipeg, Manitoba – Throughout the month of September, Law Enforcement and Truckers throughout Canada and the United States have joined forces to hold local Truck Convoy ® events for Special Olympics.

This Saturday, the Perimeter Highway will be lined with close to 200 trucks as they convoy to and from the Trans Canada Centre in Île-des-Chênes supporting the athletes of Special Olympics Manitoba. trucks departing at 11:00 a.m. and will convoy northbound on PTH 59 and around the Perimeter Highway (PTH 100 and 101).

An international awareness and fundraising event, the Truck Convoy ® is a unique partnership between law enforcement and the trucking industry to raise funds for Special Olympics athletes to train in year-round sports activities.

“Special Olympics has a way of bringing everyone together, setting aside differences and building communities of acceptance,” said committee Chair Matt Basset. “The fact that Special Olympics can bring together law enforcement and members of the trucking industry is a testament to how the athletes of Special Olympics are a true inspiration.”
