'Of The Year' Award Nominations Now Open!

It's that time of year! Is there a member of the SOM community that you think deserves recognition? Has someone gone above and beyond this program year and you think they deserve to win? 

Fill out a nomination form today by clicking here. Deadline for submissions is June 26th and you can find the descriptions for each category below. A letter of reference needs to accompany each nomination and can be emailed to Kayla Kasian at kkasian@specialolympics.mb.ca

'Of The Year' Awards - Categories

Team of the Year: Presented to Special Olympics Manitoba’s most outstanding sports team.

Athletes of the Year: Presented to Special Olympics Manitoba’s most outstanding athletes.  

Coaches of the Year: Presented to Special Olympics Manitoba’s most outstanding coaches.  

Athlete Lifetime Achievement Award: Presented to a long-standing athlete who has best exemplified the spirit, philosophy, and goals of Special Olympics Manitoba over the course of their career. 

Fundraiser of the Year: Presented to a fundraising volunteer(s)/group who has made a significant contribution to the SO movement in the area of fundraising, and has best exemplified the spirit, philosophy and goals of Special Olympics Manitoba.

Rising Star Coach of the Year: Presented to Manitoba’s most outstanding Rising Star Coach. This award focuses on young coaches, under the age of 25, who have demonstrated a commitment to the organization, created an early impact through their coaching roles, and who display the potential to have a positive and lasting impact in the future.

Law Enforcement Torch Run Award: Presented to a LETR member who has contributed significantly to the development, awareness and financial success of Law Enforcement Torch Run programs in Manitoba.

Volunteer of the Year: Presented to an operational volunteer (e.g., Team managers, administration, officiating, program support, sitting on a council or committee or helping at games or competitions) who has made a significant contribution to the Special Olympics movement locally, provincially, and/or nationally, and has best exemplified the spirit, philosophy and goals of Special Olympics Manitoba.
