Special Olympics Manitoba Announces New President & CEO

Special Olympics Manitoba (SOM) Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Campbell as President and CEO, effective October 1, 2016. Jennifer has over 21 years of experience provincially, nationally, and internationally with the organization. Her dedication, passion and love for sport have attributed to the many successes in her career with Special Olympics. The Board of Directors and staff of the Manitoba chapter are very excited and congratulate Jennifer on her new position.

Jennifer began her career with Special Olympics Manitoba in 1995 as a camp coordinator; she then took a permanent position with the organization. For the next 5 years, Jennifer managed the Winnipeg Region and became the Director of Athlete Development, leaving in 2000, to work at the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities.

In 2002, the opportunity to return to SOM was presented to Jennifer, in the role of Program Director, which evolved into Vice President of Sport and Program. She was eager to come back and take on this new challenge in her career. While in this position, Jennifer has been active on national and international levels: holding the position of chef de mission for Team Canada at both the 2011 and 2013 Special Olympics World Games, assisting Special Olympics Team USA in 2015 and actively participating in various Special Olympics Canada and Special Olympics North America initiatives. In 2013, Jennifer was recognized by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity as one of Canada’s most influential women in sport and physical activity.

Outside of Special Olympics, Jennifer keeps busy volunteering in the community through other sport activities and programs. She is a proud mom of two 2 boys, Aidan and Cian.

Join us in congratulating Jennifer and wishing her all the best and good fortune in this new position.
