Sobeys - Better Food Champions
From November 7 through November 30 hundreds of Sobeys Inc. employees and stores will sign up to become Better Food Champions for Special Olympics. Thousands of Canadians with intellectual disabilities as well as their families, caregivers and coaches will be provided access to nutrition guides, cooking classes and fresh food. The three-year partnership will begin with a focus on nutrition education. Better Food Nutrition Sessions Sobeys Inc. will focus on cooking skills and nutrition support. Topics include; quick and easy recipes, foods to avoid, portion control, hydration and sugar reduction. The sessions will be offered to athletes, coaches and caregivers. Better Food Store Experiences Stores will be selected to host grocery store tours. There will be two topics offered – eating healthy on a budget and smart grocery shopping. Over the next three years, the goal is to have 2,500 store experiences across the country and reach 10,000 Special Olympics athletes, volunteers and caregivers.
