Re: Postponement of In Person Programming

With 2021 in the rear-view mirror, many participants have been looking forward to the return of in-person programming following the winter break. Unfortunately, due to the extreme rise in positive COVID-19 case numbers across the province, Special Olympics Manitoba has made the decision to postpone the resumption of all in person activities until, at least, the week beginning January 31, 2022.

The health and safety of our athletes and volunteers continues to remain our highest priority and even though this is a difficult decision to make, it is the right decision at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the regions and will remain in contact with Regional Leadership Teams, Head Coaches and facilities to decide when the resumption of programming is safest for all involved. In the meantime, our virtual programs will continue to run and all athletes are strongly encouraged to take part.

Please check out for the latest virtual activity schedule as well as how to join in on the fun. I also encourage everyone to continue following the basics to stay healthy including staying home if you are sick, wearing a mask, washing your hands and getting vaccinated.

Wishing you all the best in 2022!
